Web Workers and inter-worker communication

Web Workers are a powerful feature in web development that allow running scripts in the background, separate from the main JavaScript execution thread. They enable developers to perform computationally intensive tasks without blocking the user interface.

Introduction to Web Workers

By default, JavaScript code runs in a single thread, which means that when a computationally intensive task is executed, it can cause the user interface to become unresponsive. Web Workers solve this problem by allowing the execution of scripts in the background.

Inter-Worker Communication

The messaging system in Web Workers is based on the postMessage and onmessage APIs. The postMessage method is used to send data from one thread to another, while the onmessage event handles incoming messages.
